Byland Estate Winery is defined by the hands-on artistry of owner Jackson Bai, who personally prunes every vine to ensure only the finest grapes reach the cellar. Located in the Four Mile Creek sub-appellation of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the estate sits on a unique sandy-soil vineyard (GGO #011)—one of the oldest and most distinguished sites in the region.

Jackson’s philosophy is that great wine is “70% grape and 30% winemaking.” To honor that fruit, Byland partners with legendary Winemaker of the Year (2021), Ann Sperling.

The jewel of the estate is its 1981 Gamay Noir planting—the oldest Gamay vines in Canada. These historic vines produce the acclaimed “BAI XU” series, which has become a sought-after label for those seeking the true expression of Niagara terroir.
